Windy

Cat and Dog cuddling

According to Nextdoor, we live in a place called Windy Hill. Unfortunately, it’s an accurate description.

I like wind as much as the next person. When we lived south of Seattle in the PNW, one of the things I really missed was a good breeze. It seemed as though it was either pretty much dead still or blowing a gale. The gales didn’t happen too often, so mostly the air was still.

Niko would probably love it there. Here is this great big dog, and he is terrified of the wind. Granted, when it’s windy on Windy Hill, objects tend to fly. Fortunately not dogs, but Niko is not convinced. He could be the next Windy Hill statistic, found in the fields of Kansas after a good Windy Hill blow.

So he hides, hoping the wind won’t get to him since he’s inside the house. He hides wherever he deems it safest. It seems to depend on the direction of the wind.

Make it stop.

Today he hid in our bathroom, which is on the east side of the house. The wind is blowing from the west, and it’s pretty noisy in the living room.

So far, so good with the hiding thing. The house has stayed on its foundation and the dog with it. I don’t think we’ll have to worry about him being the next Dorothy Gale (with her little dog, Toto).

Holy cats, I just realized Dorothy’s last name is totally in line with her experience - Gale? How many times have I seen that movie and never put it together.

I guess I should thank Niko for that little insight. Sorry dude, I wish I could return the favor and turn the wind off. Just let us know when you need to empty your bladder, and we’ll figure out a way to get you outside without blowing away.
