Our Horses Rock
Jun 10, 2025
This past weekend my good friend Annette Price and I facilitated a 2-1/2 day women’s retreat called Pipes and Ponies. It melded some Native American and Shamanism stuff with coaching with my horses. It was held at Harmony’s Heart Farm, where I live with the horses, my beloved Glenn, three dogs and three cats.
We got great feedback from the attendees. They all got insights and learnings from the weekend. They were cared for and cosseted overnight at Canyon Creek Ranch, 3 minutes from our house, where hostess Kathy made them feel extra special. We love Kathy and I’ve already booked her place for next year’s Pipes and Ponies.
Our attendees with Chancie and Tango.
I suppose you want to see some of that feedback, eh? Okay, here’s one:
“This is truly an amazing and transforming event. A lot of deep emotions were uncovered and healed. The initial Indian Pipe Ceremony was deeply spiritual and created a peaceful and safe space. The coaching and horses provided paths to explore truly deep emotions and discover the barriers we build to protect ourselves but are no longer working or what we need. The questions directed us toward insights we weren’t aware of and to discover the direction we need to take to heal. I would recommend this 100% to everyone.” GP
The horses outdid themselves. Four of them offered themselves to the attendees - LiLi, Phineas, Chancie and Tango. Willa held space outside.
Tango offers support to an attendee as she moves forward with her goals.
The first night was wild. We had an amazing thunderstorm that completely washed out the driveway down to the barn. Lucky for us my car, Natasha, is a Subaru. She handled the driveway like a pro, ferrying people back and forth from parking up by the house. One of the attendees said the storm was like washing away everything that came before (and she wasn’t talking about the driveway!).
Chancie loves that her person is smiling.
What a great time we had! I can’t say enough about the beauty, majesty and knowingness of the horses. They are truly magical. I’m so lucky to have such wonderful equines as my partners! Horses do not need to be ridden to make a huge difference in someone’s life. Sometimes the most magic happens just looking in their eyes.
