Amy Loves School

Sep 09, 2025

Our dog Amy is super smart, and likes everyone to know it. She's one of those beings where you show her once or twice what's required, and she's got it. Her sister, Bernadette, is also super smart, but she's the type that needs a really good reason to do something. There is no pulling the wool over her eyes - "you want me to sit in that corner WHY??"

You can pull wool over Amy's eyes all day long so long as she can show you how smart she is. She excelled at keeping focus in all the distractions in the PetSmart store. She's even pretty good in other places, although squirrels can be her downfall.

I am too cute for words. And I love you, whoever you are.

Amy has completed the intermediate class at PetSmart. She clepped out of beginner class because she's so stinkin' smart, and knew all the basics, but had to do the Intermediate class as a prerequisite to the next class she's taking, Brain Games.

I don't know about her, but I'm excited about Brain Games. The dogs will learn some really cool things, like using flash cards, and talking with buttons! I can just see Amy and those buttons - the treat button will probably get a big workout.

Amy parked on her mat in the middle of PetSmart dressed as Mike from "Monsters, Inc." (The costume was not part of the class.)

Amy is on her way to being a Therapy Dog. She loves people, and with good manners (both of us), she and I will be able to visit people and bring some joy into their lives. Who can resist her cute face and happy smile? She's also getting rid of her doggy breath, which is a relief. (Being a farm dog is great, but bad breath doesn't work when visiting others.) What our adventures will look like is all a little vague right now, but she's on board, and I'm excited to have this avenue to be of service to others.

Go Amy, go! Hit that "treat" button!
